We are a childcare and preparatory school located in the heart of Portmore, Jamaica, caring for children from 2 months old all the way through age 12. For over 20 years, families in this community have chosen us for their children’s earliest years. Our staff are trained, our classrooms are safe and welcoming, and our approach to learning rests on one simple idea: children grow best when they feel known, supported, and cared for as individuals.

Curriculum​

We believe children should have fun!, After all even the experts agree that preschool age children learn mostly through play. these carefree years are so short and soon the children will be exposed to a much more structured form of learning. how then do we encourage a child’s love of learning?   by making learning fun! Each month a theme is presented.

These themes are all based on things, which interest children. During the month, many activities take place which help promote basic skills (letter and number recognition, story time, colors and shape recognition, large motor skills, small motor skills, etc.) and as many of these activities as possible center around the month’s theme.Many of the curriculum materials we have seem more like toys to the children, yet while the children are playing with them, they are learning important concepts. We also offer extra curricula activities including Swimming, computer and dancing.

About Us

Located in the growing community of Portmore, Child Plus Learning Centre & Preparatory School provides a nurturing, well-equipped environment for children from 2 months old through age 12.

We keep this age range wide on purpose, so families don’t need to search for a new school every few years. A toddler’s day looks very different from a ten-year-old’s, and our staff, activities, and classroom layouts reflect that.

Our programmes combine structured learning, engaging activities, and attentive care, so every child grows academically, socially, and emotionally.

Trips

We believe some of the most memorable lessons happen outside of a classroom entirely. Throughout the year, our students take part in educational field trips designed to let them explore, ask questions, and connect what they've learned in school to the world around them.

Our day at hope zoo was very rewarding

For many of our students, this was their very first visit to a zoo — and it showed. Children got up close to animals they had only ever seen in picture books, explored a range of different habitats, and spent the day asking question after question about the creatures they encountered. It was a rewarding, first-time experience for most of the group, and one that sparked real curiosity that carried on well after the trip ended.

Field trip to the stadium

Our students visited one of Jamaica's best-known sporting venues for a day full of energy, excitement, and teamwork. Beyond the thrill of being somewhere so large and lively, the trip gave children a real, hands-on appreciation for physical activity, sportsmanship, and what it means to be part of a team — lessons that connect directly to what we teach in the classroom about cooperation and respect for others.
